From Creighton to Steele City, Jessica met with town officials, farmers and townspeople to find how nitrate contamination in Nebraska's groundwater is affecting rural communities and our public health. Nitrates In Nebraska was Jessica's master's degree project, which she adapted into a story for the Omaha World-Herald.
PAROLE BOARD VOTES NOT PUBLIC

Jessica thought it wasn't right when she found out the votes of the Massachusetts Parole Board were not public. She wrote a story about it. The Boston Herald started the legal process to unseal those votes.
WHERE'S MY TREE?
2011
In 2011, Jessica was standing outside her row house in South Boston talking to her neighbor. He was complaining about how long it was taking to get the city to plant a tree in front of his house. She thought that sounded like a pretty good story and found out there was a long wait and that the city was taking down a lot of trees, but not replacing them at a fast enough rate.
